Alice Viner - Media Studies

I am a seventeen year old media student from Gravesend. I chose to do the BTEC National Diploma in Media Studies as I already had an insight of what it would involve from my older brother and sister. Watching them come home and do work that involved learning about people as well as films, production and the industry really sparked an interest in me. I took media for my GCSEs and although the teacher scared me half to death, I still loved going away and producing something of my own. In a similar way to art; you put your influences into this art and make it yours.

I have been described as 'quietly confident' as I'm confident about what I have to do and how I'll do it. I enjoy group work but tend to avoid discussion. I am an honest person with a hardworking attitude. I'm punctual and try to be as practical as possible when it comes to certain situations.

My own interests involve fashion and photography. Both contain highly creative and imaginative edges. When you look at the two there is a huge part of someone's personality in their work. It shows a part of the person they are. Each designer or photographer has their own specific style. People such as Vivienne Westwood, Audrey Hepburn and Robert Capa have really influenced me and the interests I have.

I want to go to university but I'm not sure when. I plan to do a course in photography before I go to university. This will allow me to learn the basics and see if it's something I want to continue. As I'm not sure yet what I want to do, I plan to try out different things and see where this second and final year takes me.
